Taipei 2008.01.23 - 2008.01.28

finally done with the unpacking.

touched down and arrived home late last night.

thank goodness, Esther came to fetch us at the airport otherwise it'd have cost us a bomb.

a huge "THANK YOU" to you!

the weather was cold and wet throughout, raining almost every day. the temperature in the city went as low as 10 degrees Celsius, while the rest of the time it averaged between 12 - 16 degrees.

though it affected our plans to visit some of the attractions, but it certainly was ideal for plenty of shopping and impromptu hotspring sessions!

we resided at the hostel for a change this time around.

the room allocated to us for the first few nights was so tiny we bumped into each other with every other step, and we didn't go to bed without some frustration each night!

thankfully we got a change afterwards,
otherwise... unimaginable.
tsk tsk :P

of coz as with all hostels and dormitories, it has its pros too.
we made some local and foreign friends during the stay, which would've been impossible should we have stayed at the hotels instead.

we'll be expecting them in Singapore pretty soon!

kudos to NeuNeu for bearing with me throughout...
i.e. my unusual increase in appetite; increased mood swings and tantrums; not forgetting all that help to carry the bags.

there's a whole lot to talk about but i'll hold the raves and rants till the photos are up.

Out of Town

finished up some last minute packing while contemplating if i should lug that heavy-duty coat coz i've been told it's rather cold these few days.
why yes, the swelling has subsided quite a bit but still noticeable and i've got to finish up my meds while i'm over there. how "exciting".

alrighty, i gotta make a move now.
to the airport for the 1pm flight.

don't forget to check back for the pix in a week's time.

Wisdom

in pain.
had 2 wisdom teeth removed surgically last night.

i suspected the dentist secretly pinched me when i was in anesthesia because i've got some minor scratches on my cheek.
my fears were confirmed when..

i woke up looking (dreadfully) like him

one side of my cheek is swollen.
the lower tooth was growing on my cheek instead of on the gum. so i underwent the surgery to "cut it up" in order to extract that darn tooth.
great, now i look like Crayon Shin Chan.
i hope it goes away soon.

the first change of gauze was traumatic. blood GUSHED OUT of the wound. i didn't actually feel the pain till then.

heart pain.
so much blood lost.

not forgetting the hefty fees, but luckily it's to be paid for by the company.

a conversation with NeuNeu just before the night ended.

me:

DearDear..

him:

yea?

me:

in the future..
if i do silly things u cannot scold me ok?

him:

why not?

me:

because i've removed my wisdom teeth.

him:

and so..?

me:

and so, i have no more wisdom left

him:

Aarrghhh!!!

It's a rainy day..

yet another night at work.

it's Alex & Penelope's big day today!
to make up for my absence, i've decided to advertise their Bridal PS for free (not that they made me do it, really).
so here's the link to Pen's webbie complete with a montage of their photos.
pictures for today's event should be coming up soon, i believe.

MyBabyBunny

despite racking the brain for the past hour, i really have nothing much to blog about.
other than the weather being wet recently, much has happened dampening the moods of many in the office.

inevitably i've been feeling cranky of late too:-
maybe it's the bad news circulating in the office,
maybe it's the excessive eating recently,
maybe it's the weather,
maybe it's PMS.
perhaps, it could be all of the above.

thanks to NeuNeu for rushing over with half a dozen of pastries (swiss rolls, éclairs, egg tarts) late last night coz i just had the craving for sweets yesterday while at work.
too bad no donuts or McFlurry la!
ok, i'm too demanding.

alright, seems like time for me to sign off.
till the next post!

Dad's Birthday '08

decided to post this separately to avoid having an excessively long post..

NeuNeu came by after class on Friday to stay for the night.
a long day ahead on Saturday coz it's my Dad's birthday!

started the day off with breakfast at YongHe in Geylang.
they've relocated to a new shop but i didn't note the location though.

headed to City Plaza afterwards to get a phone for Dad n do some shopping with Mommy at the same time.
we browsed briefly n left becoz we could tell that Bro n NeuNeu were bored stiff.
tsk.
i could've spent a little more time, u know!

next up was grocery-shopping at Giant, Tampines (where else?!).
just a totally useless piece of info.. the list summed up to an auspicious SGD 99+
we headed to different directions later on - Mommy to buy cake, i went to pay some bills, Bro n Neu to buy lottery/soccer n pick up aunt n cousin.

kick-started the evening with some mahjong. NeuNeu hogged the seat the whole time.
i was left to play DotA half the time becoz i didn't have a chance at the mahjong table except the time when i sneaked a game while NeuNeu was in the toilet.

the steamboat dinner started around 6pm, followed by cake-cutting, watching soccer after more mahjong n ended with NeuNeu hurrying to bed after ironing his uniform for work the next morning.

it was time well-spent, indeed.

Blog Time

i realize that all these procrastination has caused part of my memories of the events for the week to be lost. senile dementia is creeping up now that i am 2"N" years old.

note: it has now become a taboo amongst peers to discuss about our age.

ANYWAYS, abrupt but inevitable, on a different note altogether..
i got my prescription of THE PILLS from the Jurong Polyclinic after work on Wednesday n NeuNeu came to pick me up after that.
sheesh, seems like a whole lot of possible side-effects come along with it.

bought breakfast home for mommy n ourselves then hit the sack after finishing up.
woke up for dinner then left for town by 5.30pm coz he has his weekly class.
super reluctant can! i had to hang around for 3 hours till his lesson ends.
went to look for Scottie (that's the nickname Qing gave to Scottlyn) in between to kill time.

had our fill of KFC at JB before heading back to catch up on sleep.
Cheesy Wedges!

fetched Glenneth from school back home the following afternoon, then i grabbed a McChicken burger for breakfast n tucked in to it as NeuNeu drove to ICA to collect his replacement NRIC.
it rained the entire day n we decided that it's the best time for HOT FOOD.

we decided to try out one of the steamboat/grill eateries at Marina South, without realizing that EVERYTHING IS CLOSED DOWN.
yes, we drove 3 rounds just to make sure we got it right. don't make that mistake like we did.

always in the mood to joke, he exclaims: "It's like the deserted town in I AM LEGEND!"
yaya, very funny (like real).

by the time we arrived at Parkway Parade, we were famished. i was very wrong when i thought i could eat a cow. i suggested having buffet at one of the Japanese sushi outlets. i haven't had a buffet for the past few years, coz i'll be like throwing salt into the sea. wasting money, put simply.
comparing our "tower" of plates to the PRCs, sitting at a table nearby, after our meal didn't make me feel any better.

later on, NeuNeu sent a very stuffed me back home before leaving for work.

went to Tampines Mall for some shopping with Mommy n bumped into my aunt n Regina. had a bit of snacks at Mac before i left to meet the Financial Consultant to sign some policies over dinner at Phin's Steakhouse. the Flambe was sold out so i had Brownies Surprise together with some Fried Calamari Rings n Fish & Chips.

although it's barely a month since the start of the year, i'm somewhat confident i'll hit my target weight of 47Kg this year.

Retirement Plans

there has been much talk about planning for retirement at an early age.
so i brought the topic up to him too...

me:
Baby, have u made plans for ur retirement yet?
him:
Of course! I did it N years ago.

me:
Wow, can u teach me how to plan for mine too?
him:
Sure, it's not difficult at all.
U just need to answer a few simple questions.

me:
Ok, sure.
him:
Alright, now what age do u plan to stop working n retire?
me:
But i don't want to work at all.

him: ...

Before the year ended..

this is going to be a long one..

i'm feeling a little lethargic today coz we were stayed up to count down this morning i.e. at the comfort of our couches.

we had our dose of wine, chips, chocs over "I Am Legend" after dinner.
then counted down together while comparing Singapore's Miserable fireworks display to Taipei's
Majestic version.
yea, it's all about the Money, ain't it?

well, back to the week update..
we were out in JB to jalan-jalan on 26th coz
the Perak trip was canceled at the last minute, as some of u may already know.

guess who we bumped into?
Loh Wei n Yongmei (with their friends Hoe n Wendy).
we joined them at Holiday Plaza after having our brunch at a cafe in City Square.
we waited while they took like 2 hours to browse Holiday Plaza?!
seriously, i never had much to see over there.

after that, we drove up to Taman Sentosa for some seafood before heading to Jusco for a little singing.

Loh Wei n Yongmei really can eat!!!
NeuNeu n i barely touched the buffet dinner provided,
but they tried almost everything on the buffet line (despite claiming they are already full).

after agreeing it's gonna be such a waste to stay in Singapore for the next 5 days, we decided to drive up to KL.
as it was too last-minute, we didn't have much choices available...

1. Desaru was fully booked
2. Kota Tinggi has rooms available but they've got this exorbitant Super-Peak Period charge (school holidays + public holiday)
3. Malacca has only 2 shopping malls plus the prices (shopping n accommodation) are more expensive compared to other cities

so we left for KL the following afternoon around 4pm.
NeuNeu seems to be getting the hang of it n the journey only took us about 3 hours.

as usual, we ate, shopped, caught a movie.

this time we watched the show at The Curve instead of Pavilion to avoid the crowd.

visited my cousin (he happens to be business partner of Wynn's family) n stayed over for a night

also, we tried our luck at Genting on the second day with Wynn n Cheng Hoe.
photos in Wynn's camera (.. again) so will post them up shortly.
my first time to have "hands-on" in Genting.

aiyah, don't say "gamble".
we think it's more like "support".
we "support" the casino,
then the casino "reward" us.

i'm sure Johnny would agree.

we spent the second night in Damansara, then made our way back to city to Yum Cha, drop by Wynn's place n leaving after another round of shopping.

free n easy trips are always more fun,
impromptu ones are even better.
but we definitely still have to do some planning before heading to Taipei, just to make sure we fully-utilize the time we have there :)

that's all for now.
time for lunch soon..

New Year

A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

before i start off proper,

here's a reminder on some (out of a million) changes to take note in the new year:-

do not become prey to festive crime,
do not drink-drive,

last but not least...
date ur documents correctly,
