Weekly Update

oops.
it's been a week since the last update.

unlike night shifts, day shifts require more attention n concentration so it's a tad to hard to shift the focus onto blogging..
ya, that's the excuse for this time :P

was at 5th aunt's house in JB on Friday with 7th aunt n NeuNeu.
yea, i've got 7 aunts, 5 auncles (counting the maternal side only, mind u..)
had a little trouble with the directions, but this time it's not my fault!

lunched at Perling.
Char Kway Teow & Prawn Noodles in Soup.
no kidding, bagus!
we'll bring Mommy the next time, if we can set directions straight that is..

last evening, we attended Esther's performance at The Crystal Tabernacle Church in Pasir Panjang.
more like a rehearsal but we attended this session coz we can't make it on the actual performance on X'mas Day.
as usual, the people were nice though it lacked the atmosphere like Charis last year, but i suppose it'd probably be different on the actual day.

oh oh, we had supper at this 99 Restaurant in Kent Ridge (Lorong Sarhad to be exact).
since we already had a filling dinner, we only ordered the much-raved-about Yam Paste while the rest had their meal.
unlike the traditional Yam Paste, made from steamed yam (taro), their version was done with an additional dose of steamed pumpkin.
nonetheless, it was served with gingko nuts just like the original version.
we're going back later to try their dishes.

ooh.. all this talk is making my tummy growl.

X'mas is in 2 days..
no specific plans for the day as NeuNeu n i are both working on the eve PLUS the actual day.
how exciting, huh.

however, we'll be leaving for Perak/Ipoh on the evening of 26th.
we might just drop by KL (.. again), but just for a day before we return to Singapore.

before i go (without knowing when i'll be blogging again..)
here's an advance X'mas Greeting to all of u!

December 16, 2007

Weekend

was at Kenny's since 1.30pm on Friday but it spanned till 9.30pm!
yet another record time.
poor NeuNeu was there waiting, waiting.. waiting..

finally he sent Mommy home around 7pm n came back to pick me up again.
rushed over to Tampines Mall to meet Bro n Mommy for our movie.
we caught "The Warlords".

it was unanimous.
we thought the plot was pretty awesome.

headed back home for rest.
the next day we were off to JB with Nick/Joyce.

enough talk.
breakfast first then it's time for backup in the farms for the servers..

Straight Times.. The New Style..

yet another record broken
it took 8 hours

..finally..

it's changed from this

to this

December 12, 2007

A foot from the new year..

the year's quickly drawing to an end.

i realize the trend of diminishing emo entries in my blog of late.
no, not that nothing's bothering me..
i suppose the good stuff just reign over the bad ones whenever i sit down n think quietly.

it's been a trying year.
i can't say i've matured, but one thing's definite...

i've aged.

just when i think i'm finally ready for the year,
it's ending already.
time really waits for no man, does it?

i do miss times of the past.
was just reminiscing with Ping about the times when we hung out daily at favorite spot, doing nothing n nothing at all..

and of all the things, i miss MoMo the most.

she's returning from the States next year.
i miss her so much.. so so much..
i'm real glad u're coming back soon, sweetie :)

Random

Hello everybody!

i'm back.
had a couple of busy, rainy, drowsy days.

visited HomeTeamNS at Bukit Batok on Sunday for a carnival since it was near NeuNeu's house.

had lunch, snacks, plus tried our hands on archery.

'twas FUN!

on the same day...

after dropping by Sunplaza pass Liz some stuff,

we drove up to Sembawang Park for a short walk before work..

the following day, we caught Golden Compass.
at a special price of $2 each at Suntec City.
it's the 2nd time i'm attending the event by PCG,
i certainly hope they've got more of these goodies lined up.

finally collected his computer from his friend yesterday.
put off the plans for tanning in Sentosa despite wanting to "exhibit" my new bikinis.
herhrr.

guess what?
we had an impromptu BBQ at East Coast instead!
grabbed some foodstuff at Giant before collecting my passport at ICA.
just to make my 70 bucks worthwhile, i shall apply NeuNeu's theory - utilizing it at least 70 times to make each use cost 1 dollar or less.

i've even got the first trip planned.
it'll be to.. JB this Saturday..
what's new?
but well, this time with Nick n girlfriend.
we probably can have early dinner at Taman Sentosa on our way back too!

ooh, looking forward to the hairdressing session this Friday at Kenny's.
should i continue to keep my hair permed or have it rebonded?
any suggestions?

okays, enough talk.
back to work.

December 05, 2007

Rain, Rain...

started out from office to ICA Building in Lavender after sending his car for servicing at Aljunied.
intended to extend my passport coz it's expiring on 6th Dec , which is like er.. tomorrow, only to find out i have to make a new biometric passport at 70 bucks instead n he had to make a replacement NRIC as well for 100 bucks.
boo.

had a quick brunch at Golden Mile FC before heading back to Aljunied to collect the car.
ps: the Lor-Mee was fantastic!
back at the service centre the in-charge told us we had to wait till 2pm to retrieve the car coz the alignment had to be done elsewhere.
anger.
had to take a cab back home to rest coz it started raining pretty heavily plus all that fatigue accumulated from the night shift really wasn't helping much.

'twas supposed to be a beautiful weather for sleeping in...
BUT
the renovation next door was still going on.
ultimate disgust.

in the end woke up around 3pm, washed up, had early dinner n went to get the car.
transferred from the bus to MRT at Tampines interchange.
alas, it's been some time since we've taken public transport together.

anyways, of late, numerous pairs of my shoes have been falling apart.
i've thrown away 4 pairs of shoes in the past month..

Adidas track shoes
Nike sneakers
Mondo kitten heels
Jellies from Bangkok

so today, we drove out to Queensway to get new sneakers for me.
opted for Nike again. almost bought the transparent pair, which the salesperson recommended, but turned out it didn't fit very well on the sides so i got another design instead.

tried on size 23, but it was still too big so i asked for size 22..
guess what?
the smaller size turned out to be the kids' version so it was cheaper.
for the difference of 1cm, we saved 30 bucks.
pity though coz i love many of the adults designs but they don't come in my size.

anyway to sum it all up, we bought another seven pairs of socks.
yes, SEVEN!!!

now, we're both back at work.
off tomorrow n the plan's to go to JB for food, groceries, manicure/pedicure.
hopefully we can also go to City Plaza after that too.
darn.
D&D's on Friday but i haven't really made up my mind on what to wear.

my PAssion card has been left unused for quite a while now.
i doubt we can take up any courses for the time being too, two more trips (Perak n Taipei) plus his classes start in January again.
anyone keen to take up baking / cooking classes with me?

oh, here's a couple of photos i have a hand from we took at Pavilion in KL (not the old Pavilion in Tampines)

from left: (picture 1) Joanne n Me, (picture 2) Will n Me

2007.11.30 - 2007.12.03 Kuala Lumpur

back in Singapore around 11pm last night.
after the 4-odd hour drive, we were at NeuNeu's house unloading some of his mom's stuff before heading back to my place.

could've reached earlier if not for the slight congestion due to an accident along the North-South expressway.
didn't looked like there was any fatality though the two vehicles involved were damaged rather badly.

anyway we visited the new mall Pavilion n found it rather unappealing.
it houses the usual stores we have in Singapore apart from Paul Frank, Juicy Couture, JCo Donuts n not forgetting, the relatively larger Forever 21 store..

oh, we also caught "Enchanted" at Pavilion's new GSC cinema with Wynn n Cheng Hoe the night prior to departure.
like what NeuNeu says, it's been ages since we seen anything on the big screens.
it was a good choice, apart from the far-from-reality storyline.
but hey!
everyone could do with a little dreaming once in a while :)

too tired to write too much now..
the darned memory card was formatted n all the pictures are lost as well.. gotta wait for Wynn to send those in her cammie so no pix tentatively.

November 30, 2007

Yeah, today is here!

TODAY IS HERE!

finally after 5 dreadfully long, hectic nights.
6 hours more n i'm outta here for the next few days.

we're headed for KL tonight.
NeuNeu's gramps, mom, aunt, uncle-in-law n 3 cousins have arrived safely earlier yesterday night according to Wynn.

boy, has she got a handful this weekend coz we've got 10 people waiting to be pampered n served!

meanwhile, Wynn n i have already got "Grand Plans" for the boys over the weekend.

*hiak hiak*

the plan for the next 24 hours:

0700
knock off
0830
arrive home
1400 final packing
1700
dinner
1800
prepare sandwiches n snacks
2030
depart from home
2130 meet NeuNeu at Boon Lay when he knocks off
2200
bring his PC to friend's place (Bukit Panjang)
2230
customs
2300

0000
headed for KL
0500 arrive at Wynn's
0700
dim sum breakfast with everyone!

on a different note altogether..

'twas Masaaki's last night on shift.
he's moving on to IM role from today onwards.
congrats!

i suppose that also means a visit to Singapore again soon, eh. =P

i'll be missed for the next few days
(
at least that's what i'd like to believe),
so here's a picture to compensate for my absence.

have fun, kiddos!

Night Chat

random chats tonight include:

1) Dan giving me a free trip to Bangkok in December coz he's getting the two-month bonus
(pity i don't have spare leave for the month plus i'm headed for Perak with NeuNeu n my family)

2) How Nick almost broke (or was it already broken) his girlfriend's legs in their recent Hong Kong trip over the weekend while looking for his toys & PSP
(give me a complimentary trip to Hong Kong n i'll let u break mine too :P)

3) Which bouquet of flower to pick for Qing's anniversary n whether it's better to send it to home or office.. Not forgetting where we're supposed to meet in KL this weekend
(i hope Carmen's not reading otherwise the surprise would be ruined..)

4) Whether it's worthwhile to visit MNG with Joanne during the Malaysia Megasale coz they usually sell the Godzilla-sized past-season stuff
(no conclusion for this yet. i guess we'll just pop by n take a peek at the stock..)

5) Whether "E" should burn the frayed ends of her newly-acquired bag n risk turning it into ashes then we decided to switch brainstorm on the topic of:

"are breakfasts are meant for people who've slept the night before"

(...anyone has answers?)

Night Shift

1st day of the 2nd week of night shift.
i never fail to have trouble catching up on my sleep.

in case, u're pondering over my disappearance for the past week.
since it's been a while, i may have gotten some dates mixed up..

21.11.2007 (Wednesday)

Grocery purchase - JB Carrefour / JB Giant
Shopping in JB City Square
Supper from JB City Square
Car Wash back at Bukit Batok

24.11.2007 (Saturday)
Prayers at Waterloo Street
Shopping at OG Albert / Bugis Junction / Village
Frog's Leg Porridge at Tampines

25.11.2007 (Sunday)
Packing up
Work

i've been catching up on my sleep, packing up my room, making coffee for a certain "someone" taking his exams these 2 weeks.
u've been throwing ur weight around n having things ur way, eh.
u'll know when wait till ur exam ends tomorrow..

anyways, am looking forward to our road trip on Friday..
far from spectacular, but still excited coz it'll be our first drive to KL.

the trip's brought forward coz NeuNeu's gramps, mom, aunt n family decided to head out this month so we'll join them instead
(which means i prob can catch Qing one of the days over a drink)
coincidentally, my family have to travel back to Ipoh/Perak next month so we'll do a second drive in then
(with the help of Ming Tat for the obvious reason that i can never recognize the way back)

been feeling stressed of late.

falling sick once every few weeks, the recurring insomnia just makes things worse.
perhaps it's time for a really good long break with little or no traveling, simple chores, regular eating n sleeping hours.
i could use the balance of my leave for this year, but i gotta wait till February/March next year for the slots.

sigh.

JB Jusco & Asia Pacific Food Expo

yesterday was the day for our weekly trip to JB.
brunch-ed at "The Chicken Rice Shop" in Jusco.

plain as the food looked, they tasted surprisingly good.
for the set NeuNeu ordered, the bean sprouts were crisp n not "raw", whilst the chicken was cooked till tender n drizzled with honey sauce.

my order of shredded chicken noodle was very nicely done too.
wanton noodles cooked with the usual veggies, shredded chicken n preserved veggies.
when undercooked the wanton noodles will turn out tough n "springy". but theirs wasn't under / overcooked n the soup complimented it well.

NeuNeu's set consisted of:
1 bowl of soup
1 plate of chicken
1 plate of bean sprouts
2 pai tee
1 dessert
1 drink

mine was made up of:
1 bowl of shredded chicken noodle
2 pai tee
1 dessert
1 drink

what's more, each set only cost us RM10.99

we decided that the restaurant should really be named,
"The Surprisingly Good Chicken Rice Shop".

after our routine visits to Carrefour n Giant, we returned to Singapore.
hopped by his place to fetch his mom n Glenneth, then to mine to fetch my mom.
we were all headed for the Asia Pacific Food Expo.

we bought individually-packed mini bah-kwa (肉乾 dried pork), sachets of nuts, dried cod-fish n eel, bah-chang (肉棕 rice dumplings), tang yuan (湯圓 glutinous rice dumplings) just to name a few...
Mommy never fails to lug bags of goodies home from these food fairs.
pity though, coz i didn't see the mini-eclair which we bought from the previous fair.

all busted n tired, we had a quick dinner at Bedok 85 n headed back to my place.

NeuNeu tried to scare Glenneth with talks of a scary crocodile kept in my house. while we were chatting in the living room, he checked out my room n was greeted by...

my kookoo-dile :)
he does look quite cuckoo with the silly smile on his face, doesn't he?

Changi T3 & NEWater Plant Tour

i died thrice today. almost.

we woke up early this morning to visit the new airport terminal 3.

'twas gorgeous.

admission fee into the transit hall:
SGD1 per person (unguided)
SGD3
per person (guided)

we took the unguided one, but shamelessly eavesdropped while walking behind the group anyway :P

the building was well-lit though we found it suspiciously similar to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport which we visited earlier this year, except that in view of promoting the Garden City reputation, T3's got more "green's" in it.

pity though coz half the time i was drooling over the ah-peks' DSLRs.

that was where i had my first close call with Shinigami (Grim Reaper in Japanese)

i almost stepped, slipped, fell n died, on the amount of slobber i was dribbling.

DearDear i want to buy one!

the terminal was seriously huge.
which led to the second brush with the God of Death.
even my middle-age marathon-running mommy also thought that amount walking was quite tedious.
my feet were badly blistered from the all the walking.
so much for abandoning my trusty birks for some pretty looking URS sandals.

so painful can!
(more pix to be up later...)

we hopped over to tour at the NEWater plant in between.

now we know how the Household-Use Water (indecorously known as Toilet-Water) is filtered, sterilized n processed into potable water.

NeuNeu still refuses to drink it,
(despite knowing it's already added to our daily drinking supply without us knowing anyway).

denial.

back for late lunch at Changi T2.
the food at the canteen sucks.
i totally died there.

DO NOT...
i repeat, DO NOT ever try the Japanese food there.
not the Chicken Katsu Don at least.
it's most likely frozen chicken cutlets put into microwave without even being defrosted properly.

tomorrow we're going to JB again.

night shift is coming,
i'm gonna stock up on my twiggies!

November 13, 2007

Misc Rambling

woo~
i've got one more reason to shop now...
NeuNeu got a month's free parking in Capitaland Malls.
i.e. Bugis Junction, Bukit Panjang Plaza, Clarke Quay, Funan DigitaLife Mall, IMM, Junction 8, Jurong Entertainment Centre, Lot One, Plaza Singapura, Tampines Mall.

i've got 4 off days in a row this week n the best way to start it is...
a warm cozy bed,
a nice rainy weather,
plus...

DRILLING NEXT DOOR!!!

Late Night, Early Morning

finally feeling much better from the flu.

ruined my 1st rest day.
only managed to go to the new Sheng Siong in Bedok with Mom & NeuNeu, then spent the rest of the day crouching in bed.

on the 2nd rest day (yesterday), i managed to meet up Aileen n Anjan at Chatterbox in the evening.
but coz i've already taken dinner so i only had Coconut Ice Cream while Aileen had the renowned Chicken Rice.

been sometime since i last saw them.
like 6 months?!
gosh, time really flies...

oh, the only picture i took when i was there.
Coconut Ice Cream.
the presentation was really pretty n my picture really doesn't do justice to it :P

left around 10pm after some chitter-n-chatter.
NeuNeu came by n fetched me for some KTV with his classmates, Charles n Jason.

yea, i was still sick but i can never resist a KTV session.
i'm incorrigible.
herhrr.

we ended the session around 2AM,
dropped Charles at his place in Taman Jurong n arrived home no earlier than 2.30AM.

which means i only slept 3hours n now i'm at work...

*yawn*

2) Create an account - you do have to fill in everything, except the “choose a picture”, and you do have to give a real e-mail address.

3) On the right hand side of the screen is a “search” box. Type in the word “Catherine”.

Gluttony

since our trip to Vietnam in July, i've been searching high n low for the recipe to this yummy dish. it was love at first bite n we ate it EVERYDAY at Benh Tanh Market when we were there.

priced at about VND10000 (approx SGD 1), this bowl is packed with a punch!
it's consists of thick yellow noodles, pork slivers, spring onion, peanuts, bean sprouts, Chinese mushrooms, shrimp, mortadella, stripped morning glory (kang kong), saw-tooth herb, minced pork balls, chicken stock.

served with fresh-squeezed lime juice, rice cracker, chopped hot pepper goop n tastes a tad like our local rojak with the nutty-tangy taste.
variations include use of thin slices of roast pork (not the cut with the orange outer coating, just plain pork roast.)

it was an impossible mission... why?
that's because i don't even know the name to it!

that was until today...

it's called Mi Quang
"Mi" = Noodle
"Quang" = Major ethnic group that lives in Central Vietnam

the answer came all the way from down under, thanks a million Justin!
gluttony has driven me mad, mad enough to e-mail for help from our new Vietnamese colleague in Sydney for help. i thought i'd never know the answer since Xuan left us a couple of months back (before i could ask him, obviously).

though he refused to get courier a yummy portion to Singapore, he was kind (or unkind) enough to arrange a customer service training (and cooking) session in Sydney so that i could go get a tip or two from his mom (not forgetting i'm supposed to cook for everyone in the Sydney office).

ok, all these talk has got me hungry n craving for it even more now.

wonder if we'll be having a nice Viet lunch at Holland V later?

meanwhile, here's some pix for u (so that u can better understand my undying crave)!

isn't she sweet...?

October 30, 2007

a BIG "thank you" to NeuNeu

a BIG "thank you" to NeuNeu

despite ending work & reaching home at 4am, he brought my slippers to my office at 6am, when I complained of blisters;
he seldom loses patience & temper on me;
helps me with the chores at my place coz i’m incorrigibly lazy to do it alone.

he offers advice whenever I have problems;
or simply listens to my grumbles daily.

he's always giving me surprises...
from handmade photo collages, frames;
whips up “surprise meals”;
records his singing etc…

... and just yesterday,
he fetched me from class as usual after rushing through his presentation,
drove up to Kent Ridge Park with a boot secretly packed with heart-shaped balloons & a My Melody plushie sleeping happily in a pink X'mas sock.

Not just another YouTube video

Dearest Baby,

Happy Anniversary.
Specially for you...

...with love

Eventful Day, Saturday

happy.
though it's not a rest day for me today.
spent one entire eventful day with him yesterday.

'twas a long day.

in the morning, NeuNeu fetched me home to rest after my night shift ended, then we went to Clementi to buy the phone for bro. it's indeed quite a nice phone.

thereafter headed home to change, dropped TC at Suntec on our way to town.

i thought i had missed the Sanrio fair (or got cheated) the first time 'round.
it was flooded with lotsa goodies!
the variety for My Melody was quite limited.
sadly, there wasn't much car accessories either.
but NeuNeu bought me a My Melody photo album!
to-date we haven't had time to finish filing the Vietnam photos.
pity, we haven't been taking much photos recently either. i guess we're just too occupied.

oh, we caught up with Aly in town yesterday at Cineleisure.
didn't manage to catch up on gossips though.
parted at Pastamania where she had her lunch, then ended up in 2 different places for KTV. miscommunication. hah. we were at Partyworld but they were at KBox.

went separate ways for dinner as well.
nothing fantastic about the food.
didn't have much choices since most of the eateries in Far East Plaza were already closed by then.

there's a stall at the basement selling the super sinful Fried Mars Bar.
but it was closed too. aarghh!
do try it the next time u're in the area.

also, on this boring work day, i amused myself while racking my brains for the D&D attire.
see my crappy ideas below...

ultra glam girl.

did i even have to spell it out?

so u want a Megastar?

u shall get a Megastar!

ps: not cheap hor.

selling at USD $1279.00.

October 27, 2007

Year End

it's the time of the year.
the time when everyone sends everyone wedding invites.
the time when everyone is getting their appraisals done for the entire year of hard work (or not).
the time when companies have D&Ds.

speaking of which, my company's D&D invite is out.
it reads:

Our annual dinner and dance will be held on Dec’07, Friday at Rendezvous Hotel.
For this grand occasion, you will be the famous celebrity and Glitzy stars of the night!

Come and dressed as a megastar. Be prepared for your loyal fans and paparazzi, waiting to besiege you for your valuable signature and picture!

The evening will only get better with lots of exciting games, which leave you sidesplitting laughter!
And there will be wonderful prizes to be won!

question is what should i wear?
running thru pix of the red carpet events in Hollywood doesn't help.
too glamorous n glitzy.

i can already picture NeuNeu saying i look like 舞女 (hostess).
that's what he said of my glittery pouch.
it was only a pouch. imagine what he'd say of a dress.

suggestions, anybody?

October 24, 2007

Time Management

going to class today by myself.
NeuNeu's busy with a major project on this week.
he's super tied-up. no exaggeration.

know what?
yesterday, we set off to work together in the morning at 6.30am.
he dropped me at the office around 7am, then headed to work work work...
he only knocked off no earlier than 1am.
18hours of work! (.. with no OT pay)

well as he puts it, he's the reason why Singapore can sleep in peace at night.
although not as noble as him, but i'm the reason why people all over the world can connect!

word has it that there'll be major changes recently that may affect our team.
gonna continue keeping the optimism going for now.
as a consolation, i've got a couple of offers already..
offers ranging to visit me in HK if i relocate, to throw me a grand farewell party n an offer to hire me as a full-time maid.

thanks a lot hor
.

I WILL SURVIVE!

well, schedule's a little hectic for us this week coz Neeraja's hospitalized while Chung n Sindu are away on leave. next week'll be worse (for me) coz i had to un-swap my shift with KT for this weekend to do OT on Friday night.. also, i haven't swapped my shift for classes next week. bah.

time time, i gotta make time.

already missed my weekly meet-up with Aly a few times this month. i doubt the next 2 weeks would be any better. i gotta meet Anjana too!

October 23, 2007

Another Weekend...

was going to start my routine blogging of my weekend until i heard the announcement on the opening of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE). they even have a webbie for it!
hmm.. does all the grandeur translates into hints of exorbitant ERP charges n a hike in COE?
anyways, check out the webbie.
it's quite cool (..or so i thought), even comes with a couple of free multi-lingual MP3 downloads.

ok, back to my weekend. (did u ever think u'd ever escape it?)
Saturday was rest day for me.
NeuNeu went to help Debs move to her new apartment in Sengkang while i chalked up a good few hours of sleep after my night shift.

poor him.

always overworked (... usually by me), even on his off-days.

he came by to pick us up (mom, bro n me) to Giant for some grocery shopping.
ok, i hear Sophia's voice ringing in my head:
"u always go Giant hor".

herhrr.
thereafter enjoyed the long-awaited family dinner coz we hadn't done so in ages.
we cuddled up n caught Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe on telly after dinner.
turned in early coz Sunday's our WORK DAY. boo!

fast-forwarding to Monday...
met up in Sengkang to move the last of my stuff, dropped them back at home n headed out for his haircut at Tampines Mall.
went over to the Round Market for food
(after realization that i haven't been to that place despite having stayed in Tampines for 20-odd years. the secret is unveiled, Nick!) only to realize most of the stalls are closed!
i thought the operating hours "daytime" referred to anytime before evening.
hell no. it's MORNING only!

funny thing was that when NeuNeu was buying Fried Carrot Cake for me from another coffeeshop in the vicinity, the stallholder tried to convince him to buy $2.50 instead of $2 by telling him: "两块钱很少的。" (meaning the portion for $2 is very small).
well, he didn't coz i really don't eat a lot anyway
(at least i try to CONvince n CONsole myself that way. u get the drift, don't u?).

alas! the portion was quite pathetic.
his take on that?
"哇,他真的很不客气的给很少啰!"
i have no appropriate translation for this. let me know if u do.

hit home after lunch since we couldn't agree on a KTV or JB trip.
life just gets that sh*tty, doesn't it?
off-day but can't go places coz we've both got classes at 7pm.

luckily class was good for me.
more or less on track.
aiyo, i shouldn't say too much. sekali fail the exam.

that's all for now.

i miss...

i miss playing mahjong with u & my family over jolly chats over the weekend;
i miss smacking ur bottom every time u walk in front of me;
i miss hearing ur singing over the phone;
i miss impromptu BBQs with u by the beach;

i miss cuddling u in front of the telly after suppers;
i miss attempting to wake u up in vain with my kungfu moves;
i miss rubbing noses with u first thing in the morning;
i miss giving u surprise hugs while u do the dishes after meals;

i miss u.

... and i don't want to miss out a single thing no more

One-by-One

feeling melancholic.

one-by-one,
my colleagues are leaving.
it's really enjoyable working with most of them,
a nice environment with all the friendly folks that make my work-life so pleasant.

Asha, Caps, Yoong, Dennis.. now Nick.

no matter where u guys go,
i wish u all the best for ur future endeavors.
not forgetting... u're missed!

A long post...

ahh yes, when there isn't anything else to blog about coz work's monotonous n class is routine...

i blog about FOOD!!!

..not forgetting more road trips..

a slightly belated post on my Tuesday lunch trip to Tanglin Halt Market (the newer one that's a street away from Alexandra Police Post).

actually i didn't do any research before going, just had no appetite for rice that day so i randomly ordered Lor Mee since there wasn't any queue when i was there.

u can add the vinegar according to ur liking, great for someone like me coz i'm no fan of the black vinegar.
love the fried fish coz it's not the crumbly ones that disintegrate into the soup.. or sauce or whatever u call it.

shan't tell u more.
go try it.

the SGD 2 version is just nice for a light lunch.
after which u can order her fried carrot cake that comes in servings of $1.50/$2/$3
SGD 1.50 only ok! where to find?!

i've been really nasty to NeuNeu these few days.
it's no excuse,
it's PMS...

spent the entire Wednesday screaming n throwing tantrums.
i can already picture him saying:
"ok la, what's new. no PMS also like that what."
blardy 'ell.

so it wasn't any surprise that he coaxed me.. hoaxed as well..
then came by to bring (actually more like force) me to go for class.

still kena chopped to buy 5 mini char siew bao at 4 buckaroos while waiting coz we couldn't go to Komala's for the payasam or rasgulla that i've been craving.
so i made him pay for it.. literally.. i grabbed the money from his wallet.
muahaha.

oh, here's the surprise he had for me...
choco-dipped cookies with mint filling.

the picture isn't doing it any justice.
i know it looks like u-know-what.
give the man some credit la.
so sweet of him to be able to tolerate my abuse n still give me surprises.

i forgot all about it when i woke up n continued my abuse.
看招,寒冰掌!

anyway i just collected my free phone from StarHub in the afternoon.
why so good?
it's actually an assignment from RippleVox.

so the phone (
embedded with ez-link) will double as a wallet n can be topped up accordingly using a ez-link / credit card reader which is also provided.
cool right?

lastly, after trying my luck at Chinatown Point (in search of My Melody stuff) NeuNeu also brought me to...

Rain, Rain... Go Away

we went trippin' yesterday

more like
FOOD trippin'.
kicked off the day with...

Adam Road Market - Pork Rib Prawn Noodles
Zion Road Food Center - Boon Tong Kee Duck Rice

(pity the famous Dessert & Char Kway Teow/Fried Carrot Cake stalls were closed)

followed by Labrador Park,
Mount Faber,

Vivocity

'twas raining so hopes of snapping a few shots were dashed.
guess i just gotta wait till the renovation works
complete in January.

class wasn't as bad.

already at lab session for EIGRP / OSPF.

we got kicked out by 9.45PM
(as usual).
i doubt we'd ever complete the module on time if this continues.

disturbed sleep is taking a toll on me.
i haven't gotten the night-shift sleeping habits out of my system.
the OT this Friday night certainly won't be of any help. shucks.

The Weekend

time really flies.
it's Sunday again.

last night, or rather this morning, he hogged the entire blanket. then finally decided to stuff the blanket under the bed so that we could both die of cold throughout the night. well done!

i rewarded him with tons of hate mail n messages.

so to make amends, he came over to bring me to lunch at Clementi central.
where i finally tried the Stewed Sesame Oil Chicken. yummy!

nothing unusual on a working Friday 'cept meeting up Will for lunch.
'twas at Clementi as well (not central, though), where we had our meal at Botak Jones.

they serve authentic American western food at hawker center prices.
had Fish 'n' Chips (SGD6.50).
i tell u, their chips are darn good!
well, u can tell the popularity from the crowd...
the queue + wait took about 20 - 30 minutes!

met up with Nikky at Loyang Point late morning n headed home after that.
couch-slouched for the next couple of hours.
then left home with bro to meet Will at Boon Lay (all the way from Tampines, ok!)
the interchange (Boon Lay) was packed. foreign workers were all returning to their dens.
somewhat daunting.

anyway we were dropping by JB for dinner that night.
oh, "Chicken Poppers" was nice though i thought it looked pretty miserable to have only 5 pieces in a mighty large box.

Will was so nice to offer buying me that Mirumo toy.
but of coz i said "no".
i'm a grown-up, can?
*secretly shoves all the toys n cartoon DVDs under the bed*

gym has been rescheduled to tomorrow.
yes yes, the sucky part is there's class too.
maybe a sumptuous vegetarian indian feast will boost the spirits a bit.

i am starting to feel a little unwell coz i snacked on cup noodles just before knocking off.
i'm overeating!!!

2 - Days

i was sick since Tuesday.
i ate too much.

so it could've been either the overdose of chili;
and/or the packet of Lay's salmon Teriyaki chips;
and/or the mint choc chip ice cream;

therefore we postponed yesterday's gym session.

NeuNeu came by after work on Tuesday.
we couldn't make the wabbits that night either.

turned in early after he finished up the dinner mommy prepared.

attempting to separate him from the cushy pillows n sheets in the morning was never an ea
sy task.
wasn't feeling well enough to yank him off the bed.
so i just facebook-ed. hah. took a likeness quiz.
the topic: Internet Procrastination. how apt.

when he finally woke up, he was busying himself doing Time-Out hand-signs just like in the basketball court (see figure on right).
i screamed at him coz he was driving me nuts by circling the room like a cuckoo.

prepped up n left for prayers at Waterloo street.
we had the donuts that mommy gave for breakfast on the journey (almond choc n blueberry) n took lunch at the market only after prayers.

he had his habitual order of fried carrot cake n i took soup Koka noodles at SGD2 each.
unfortunately, no pictures coz we were in a hurry to finish up.
it real was hot n stuffy there.

carrot cake was good, as usual, whilst the Koka noodles tasted rather bland (no choice, i was still sick) but did i noticed lots of Uncles n Aunties queuing up for the curry noodles.
next time i'll try that!
so far the better one i tried is at Kovan.
to avoid lunch crowds, i suggest going on weekdays between 2pm - 5pm.

okays, enough about food.
i guess the two days' deprivation from food is driving the craving.

speaking of Labrador Park in the previous post, here's an update:
The
jetty and beach will be closed from 15 October 2007 to 31 January 2008 for upgrading works.

also, i'll end of now with a link to some beautiful shots taken by my friend.
Evening@Labrador by Mike

gotta pick my brother up at the airport coz he's returning from Adelaide today!

October 09, 2007

Yesterday

Will picked me up after work yesterday morning n we had our breakfast at pasir panjang.

yes, that's him waiting for his prata.
he looked like he's gonna stab the chef any minute, doesn't he?

no wonder they say "a hungry man is an angry man".

oh, here's mine:

fried bee hoon with egg
SGD 1.50

the noodles has bits of chopped chili padi n spring onions in it. yum.

as planned, we headed to Vivocity for the show after lunching at home (not forgetting the very essential nap after 12 hours of work). i've got lots to rave about the movie although it made me really upset for the whole night.

the rain made things worse coz we can't go to Labrador Park for dinner.
in the end had to make do with some muslim food at Labrador Villa Road. it wasn't that bad, but a tad to spicy especially when i just had a spicy breakfast.

sigh. the pace in class is getting a little too fast. i fumbled with the lab portion n i would have strangled myself there n then if there were some kind of cable within my reach (RJ11 or RJ45 or coaxial or fiber or serial.. or ALL OF THE ABOVE!!). but there wasn't coz it's a remote lab session.

i'm having a mental block (see diagram below):
