Frisky Friday

the day started early.

scrambled to get ready when the final alarm rang at 7.40am.

the stuffy nose and phlegm in my throat had me tossing and turning in bed without falling asleep till the wee hours.

nevertheless, took my shower and got to the bus stop to take my ride to interchange.
bumped into Wayne, had a small chat along the way then headed separate ways.

hung around Jurong East while NeuNeu did a couple of transactions at the banks, then headed for the causeway.
traffic was pretty slow though it wasn't any sort of a massive jam.
took breakfast, got his brake light fixed, walked around a little and returned.

had some time available after he reached home and washed up, so we caught some bits of Saving Private Ryan before leaving for the Home Team Academy (HTA) at Lim Chu Kang.
had an appointment to sign some documents relating to the sponsorship of his course, of which was all completed within the hour.

loitered around the premises for a bit, bought some desserts/food from the canteen and brought them over to Wei's shop. finished the desserts, chit chat a little then headed back to Tampines to pick and deliver some stuff to my aunt's place.

stopped to have a drink at Pasir Panjang while waiting for Liz to knock off.
and NeuNeu insists that i tell her we went to Labrador Park to pak-tor.

anyway, picked Liz up from work then drove to Taman Jurong to meet Charles for KTV.
3 hours zipped past then Wei joined us after work, wound up the session after another 2 hours, then hit the 24-hour food court for our late-late dinners!

led Liz & Wei up to Jurong Hill after Charles alighted just 'round the corner.
enjoyed the breezy night under the stars, without forgetting to laugh at the possibility of collecting "tissues" along the way up the tower.

bade farewell no earlier than 1am, and arrived in the comfort of the bed around 1.30am.

the stuffy nose and phlegm-congested throat obstructed my sleep again and i dawdled when waking up because i realized i haven't slept a wink!
sheesh.

cliche as it may sound, but yes..
it was a tiring but fulfilling and fun day.

The past week

15 April
received my first present of the year.
a Bakerzin cake from my boss...
followed by telling me to come back for OT the next day.

what could be worse?

16 April

after a day's OT, i attended Darren's farewell dinner at NYDC, Holland V together with Vj, KT, Beng, Chia Chang, Benson and Seng Lee.

the session ended in laughter and well-wishes.

later on, NeuNeu sent me to the not-so-secret hideout "小桥流水.. 哗啦啦", after the first exam paper, joining the rest of his classmates - Lynn, Yanee, Angie, Corinne, Alex, Julian and Vincent.

i didn't bring my PSP along that night so i tuned in to the MP3s on my phone while they mugged for the final paper on Friday.

he wrapped up around 10pm so that Corinne can take a lift home
(poor her had to work the next morning).

17 April

instead of sleeping when he reached home, he typed late into the night and continued when he woke up the next day until it was time to send me home for a change of clothes.

hurry scurry.
changed and grabbed my stuff when i got home, then headed out for lunch and to pick Julian up at Pasir Ris.
it was "小桥流水.. 哗啦啦" yet
again.
more mugging, chatting and stress until NeuNeu sent Julian off to the nearest MRT station.
i stayed behind to play PSP and chat with the rest. wasn't sure how long he was away coz i was too engaged in my game.

he returned.
with a cake.

after silly poses for the cammie, a birthday song, and cake-cutting, they returned to their books.

soon it was time for us to leave and meet Liz/Wei for dinner.

drove up to Anchorpoint to meet them before heading out separately to Suntec for the meal.

he suggested driving to the Singapore Flyers for a walk after dinner, and the couple spontaneously agreed.
i didn't notice anything unusual as there wasn't any queue for the tickets that night, but got to know later on that they've actually pre-booked the seats prior to our visit!

couldn't catch the sunset as the skies had already turned dark by the time we arrived.

the only consolation was that i didn't have my camera with me anyway.
the ride ended approximately 30 minutes later and we all thought KTV was a good idea.

so there we were back at Suntec City's KBox.
singing, chatting, and alas, another cake when the clock struck 12.

it was a wonderful celebration
(minus the soprano plus alto plus bass version of the birthday song).

returned to our vehicles in the carpark after the session to unveil the present from Liz/Wei.
i headed straight for the backseat where i placed the large parcel nicely wrapped in My Melody/Kuromi wrapping paper.

EVERYTHING'S MY MELODY - desktop handphone holder, photo frame, purse, lanyard and even the greeting card!
thanks once again for the thoughtful gift, babe!

and when we bade goodbye, all about to leave...

lo and behold, i spotted a bouquet of pink roses resting on my seat.

the first bouquet i got was before our trip to KL in December '06,
the second was in July last year when we were in Da Lat, Vietnam,
and this, is the third bouquet from NeuNeu.

i was overwhelmed.
almost driven to tears.
perhaps things are indeed taking a turn for the better for me or so it seems.

unfortunately, Wei thinks forgetting the cashcard was a pretty cliched excuse but maybe forgetting to lock the car isn't as good too.

he intended to continue studying after sending me home but i think the rest of the people had already left by then, and thus he went home to rest.

18 April
dragged myself off the bed to meet mr hu for impromptu prayers in the noon.
had our late lunches at Sakae Sushi in Citylink with compliments from Hoochie.
utter disappointment when i heard that Ruby's photo at Peninsular doesn't have expired film anymore too.

seems like no other shops are selling these stuff anymore
(please let me know if u know of any, PLEASE!)

headed over to Plaza Singapura where Hoochie took the bus to work and i waited for everyone to finish their exam papers.
bad news.

tsk tsk.

2 persons were caught cheating and asked to leave the exam hall.

loitered around a bit and went home for dinner.
had my third cake cut when everyone in the family got home.

yes, the cake given by the boss.

washed up quickly afterwards and met Corinne, Charles, Stella and Jason for KTV at International Building.

oh, Jason had his birthday just a day before on the 17th.

anyways, the 'feeling-ful" singing sent chills down my spine and i wonder how Stella could put up with all the nonsense
:P

the crooning ended around 11pm and we hopped on the train to meet Angie, Zen, Vincent and his wife for movie at VivoCity.

caught the Forbidden Kingdom.
yes, the one with the all-but-one Chinese cast speaking weird accented English and quoting directly translated names for all the Kungfu moves.

i don't know how "Buddha Palm" or "Shadowless Kick" sound to u, but it sure tickled me.

kudos to Vincent who sent us all home after the show.

and a Happy Belated Birthday to him coz his birthday was on the 22nd.

did my last-last minute packing (actually... i was frantically stuffing everything i can find), hit the sack just before 3am, and woke up by 5am to get to the airport for our flight to Bangkok.

forgot to top up in my previous post on the trip, i bumped into Jen on the second day while we were at MBK for dinner. such a pleasant coincidence.
we haven't seen each other since last year's gathering with Qing.

ought to be catching up again soon, as promised!

Back in Town

touched down this morning at midnight.
we lugged the bags home from the airport and turned in early.
apart from the gains from the bargaining and market/mall-hopping, i also brought back with me THE FLU VIRUS.

unfortunately for NeuNeu.
he had to put up with my sneezing and sniffing the entire night, and his shirt was dampened by the wet face towel that slipped from my forehead.

anyways, the trip wasn't too bad.
i sure hope, my mom and bro enjoyed the trip as much as we did.

almost no pictures taken as we simply wanted to enjoy and forget all the hassle.
and sadly, i still didn't managed to find expired films when i was there.

good thing though, we managed to visit Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Erawan Shrine, Lucky Buddha and Marble Temple amidst the hectic shopping.
the weather was torturous (as usual), the toilet bowl in my room made a hell lot of noise on the 3rd night, and there were some frustration but on the overall it all went pretty well.

we were at Yaowarat (Chinatown) twice throughout the trip.
the first was for seafood dinner on the first night at our usual haunt - Rut & Lek.
the second was for shopping at the Sampeng/Pahurat market followed by lunch topped with sharks' fin and birds' nest on the third day

besides that, we had our routine massages near our hotel (twice!), popped by Chatuchak (twice too!) and sauntered around the Pratunam vicinity most of the other times.

the symptons of the flu started to set in on me whilst on the ride to the airport.
i had to resort to "stealing" toilet paper from the lavatories lest i run out of things to blow my nose with.
and to comfort me, NeuNeu read to me the first part of his "I Am Legend" bedtime story on the flight back.
:P

that basically summaries the trip.
unusually short and picture-less but definitely no less fun than any other trips we've been on.

i guess it's time to hit the sack and recuperate before i return to the office this weekend.
was in a rush thus didn't have time to blog about my birthday, but i'll be back shortly to write about it.

do pardon any grammatical or structural mistakes in this post as i'm getting groggy from the meds.

It's a Girl!

i'm extremely elated.

this piece of news came yesterday..

i've submitted the forms for the sponsorship of a child from WorldVision
and gotten a response.

it's a beautiful 4-year old girl from Cambodia!

i'll hold the details for now until all the procedures are completed.

meanwhile, the first pleasant event of the day (yesterday) was actually a slight blunder.
thanks to Liz for her birthday greetings despite being 4 days early. =P

she's officially the FIRST to wish me happy birthday, all others are late!

bad news for the day is that my relatives won't be coming in on Friday.
they're busy and Mommy says it'll be a hassle to clear up after the gathering coz we gotta rest early for the flight early next morning.

a little upset.

i've told her there's no need for a cake since nobody will be around to finish it up.
in any case, initially i wanted something pretty this year, but it's already too late to place orders. might as well just forget about it.

ho hum.

April 13, 2008

Just last night...

howdy peoples!

it's a pretty Sunday and i'm back at the office.
it's the last work-week of the month, leaving for Bangkok next Saturday.
i sure hope things will straighten up by then.

was out with my bro to collect our computer from the @$%# shop.
it's been more than a month since we sent it for repair.
our motherboard has already flew to Taiwan and back TWICE!
also, i conveniently got myself the long-desired film scanner while we were there.

lugged our barang barang back home, then waited for NeuNeu to come by and pick me up for late dinner with his friends at JB.
seafood extravaganza once again topped with LARGE mugs of sugar cane. MONSTER-SIZE.
this time with Alex, Vincent and his wife.
hung around a bit , had the cars washed, hit the roads around 12.45am and turned in shortly after.

anyway my birthday's on Friday and i really don't feel like it.

no major celebration like last year.

originally wanted to arrange a simple get-together KTV session on Friday with Sophia and mr. hu but seems like Hoochie's gotta work. boo.

so down to having a simple dinner at my place with my folks and a few close relatives.

alright, that's all for now.
back to counting down the hours till i'm off for today.

April 11, 2008

Avec tous mes remerciements

gratitude to all the concern showered over me the past few days.
Je tiens à vous exprimer notre gratitude.

i'm not ok.
but definitely better already.

thanks for mr. hu for putting up with all my ugliness;
my pathetic whining, and all that nonsense.. yet again
and to Aly for all that sweet-sweet encouragement!

anyway i had a movie marathon while i was in my hideout.

L'auberge espagnole (The Spanish Apartment)
The Game Plan
27 dresses
Meet the Spartans
Darjeeling Limited

one more off day till i resume work on Sunday.
a week to my birthday. and unfortunately, caught in this mess-of-the-decade.
good time to get things sorted out anyway. bah.

ahh, i guess i'll get back to my shows for now.
as u can see, i'm a little hooked to french-speaking thespians,
which reminds me of the long-neglected french tutorials.
perhaps it's a good time to pick up the primer and dump the subtitles?

Les Poupées russes (The Russian Dolls)
Le Fabuleux desti d'Amélie Poulain (Amelie)
Le Battement d'ailes du papillon (Amelie 2)

ps: just a useless piece of information..
Meloodi has left home to camp in her Dad's car for the time being.
we're missing the little cupcake already =)

g'nite everybody.
Bonne nuit. À la prochaine.

waste

i feel like a disaster.
a total wreck.

April 03, 2008

Blogtime

after a few days' absence, i guess it's time to blog again.

was out at Changi Point a few days back to kickstart my 2nd roll of film.
missed the sunrise due to the heavy traffic on the roads that morning.
the sun scorched like mad, and i ached severely afterwards from all the walking.
no thanks to my lack of exercise. and yet, thanks to NeuNeu for sacrificing the sleep time on his off day to accompany me.

in return, i gave him a complimentary car wash...
and i ached even more.

the same evening, we decided to go "pak tor" (dating).
i know it's cheesy.
together for so long but still resort to all these...

anyway Mr Sneaky Pants decided to make a detour and bring me to a "Secret Hideout" instead of driving to the KTV directly.

it's been awhile since he spoke of this certain place with a wonderful view.
and finally that fine day, i set foot on Jurong Hill.

took a stroll through "The Garden of Fame" where we saw a handful of trees that were planted by famous figures from around the world - Queen Elizabeth III, Former Indonesian President Soeharto just to name a few.

walked up the observatory tower and enjoyed the fresh breeze.
thank goodness we didn't spot any "used" tissue papers along the way up as NeuNeu has described.

no, we definitely didn't contribute to it either.

we got an aerial view of Jurong Island, Keppel Bay, and also NeuNeu's workplace in Tuas!
we scuffled back to the car shortly after we sensed the first few drops of rain.
since then i've read of a couple of raves about the Japanese restaurant so i'm hoping we'll be back soon for the foodie and more scenery!

we headed downhill for KTV as planned and finally reached Taman Jurong Shopping Centre around 8pm after figuring out its whereabouts.
unfortunately, we didn't utilize the entire duration of 5hours as NeuNeu had to work the next morning. snuggled up in bed by 1am and drifted off to dreamland...

and today, was the day for the misadventures of the East-Siders.
met Mr Hu at Sengkang MRT to take the NEL to Harborfront as he had to submit his works for the competition at Telok Blangah Safra, only to realize there are no buses headed to Telok Blangah Way from Seah Im.

so we had to take bus 65 from the interchange,
alight near St. Theresa and walk uphill to the building.
it started pouring once we reached.
then we met a weird receptionist at the counter before finally departing for the nearest bus stop.

that was not the end.

hopped on to bus 272 which looped back to Safra and finally stopped at Bukit Merah Interchange which we mistook for Redhill!
and so we FINALLY took bus 16 from the interchange and back to Marine Parade and Bedok respectively.

i give up on the thought of taking up the classes at the Safra!!!
