18.04.2007 actual day

the big day's over.
more like a BIG crisis coz i had to handle the cruel fact that i am a year older.
*ouch*

well-wishes flooded over MSN n SMS, thanx y'all!
everyone's wondering how i spent the day.

i was working.
well, sort of.
the night shift spanned from tuesday night to wednesday morning.

but later in the afternoon NeuNeu came by. being typically Catherine-ish i slacked in my couch with mommy for a while (yes, a loooooonng while), after my serving of 面綫, even way after he arrived. thus being typically NeuNeu-ish, he had me dragging my lazy bum away from the sofa n off to prepare within his timeline.
don't think u policeman, i scared hor..

the evening was great.
though to many, it was probably nothing fantastic compared to spending hundreds of buckaroos in fancy restaurants. but i like!

i finally got to eat at Komala's again after so many, many, many, maaaaaaaaaaanny months!

set meals of gigantic proportions had us set aback.
the rice really looked like a monstrous snow-capped mountain.. yeah, probably Mount Fuji or the Everest.. filled to the brim, leaving no space for rasgulla or payasam. i'm going to pop by the Penisula Plaza outlet to buy them. *drools uncontrollably*.

been flipping so many cookbooks to identify the mystery dessert. NeuNeu says he's going to make some for me soon!

i sure hope he's not saying it just to make me happy on my birthday.
(just like the way he says i look pretty becoz it's my birthday. wah lao. i everyday pretty, every year 21 ok!)

the day ended with a leisure stroll within Little India enjoying the sights n smells (particularly a white garland, which i think is made of jasmine flower, used for prayers) n of coz, KTV!!!

alright, enough for now.
heading right back to bed after brekkie.

14.04.2007 Birthday celebration

special thanks to all who were present for my birthday BBQ last saturday at Pasir Ris Park.

it was the best thus far.

NeuNeu came by after work in the morning to help tie up the loose ends n we headed off to the venue with Regina to prepare. Alex was real nice n arrived early to help start up.. guess he understands how old people have difficulty standing up too long. such a considerate boy eh. muahaha.

in summary..
nice food,
great weather,
wonderful company!

blessed by the fact that it wasn't raining that day despite the wet weather the days before.
got lotsa help from mommy. we started preparing from friday noon onwards. unfortunately, NeuNeu was recalled back to work immediately after his exams so he couldn't be here to help.

sadly, 2 of his colleagues from PCG passed away during their mission on friday night.
shan't go into the details, u can find the report here.

he was greatly affected by the mishap, on top of being totally exhausted after working 26 hours straight. nevertheless, he took over the things mommy was doing once he arrived n didn't stop to rest until late in the evening after everything was in order.

thank u for everything, baby..

the greatest gift u have given me is not the Bangkok trip, nor is it the fabulous BBQ u have organized for me.

it is really simply having u safe n sound by my side.

a grouch's grouse

when was the last time u received a totally pointless gift on ur birthday?

a packet of stickers
a globe with fake fishes floating aimlessly within
a senseless book
a signage or badge that reads "happy birthday. stay pretty and/or funky forever."
or any items that u'd never find a good reason to pay out of ur own pocket to be in possession of.

in fact i kinda miss getting some of these crappy stuff.
recollection of how myself, as a youth then, used to spend money purchasing some totally absurd presents for my peers. oh, the good ol' times. realization that the number of such presents offered is inversely related to the denomination of our age. coming of age, vouchers are undoubtedly the most common n practical offerings.

oh, did i mention uncreative?
at this age of technology where messengers, mobile phones, e-mails are easily accessible, yet friends no longer seem to be close enough to know what the other needs. these vouchers happen to give them the easiest way out.

out of the many people invited this weekend, apart from NeuNeu n my family, i suppose only 1 or 2 knows for sure what i actually want without asking.

oh well, send me ur crappiest n most uncreative stuff, people!
i'm all primed up.

..wah liew, got present still complain complain..

missing

i missed u

and so today i put on my pink sneakers instead of my usual Nike dunks
.. yes, the pink ones we bought together last year

and so today i pinned up my hair the way u always liked
.. yes, the highlighted curls that u love to twirl with ur fingers

and so today i played our favorite MP3s on my journey to work
.. yes, the beautiful music we both adore

and so today i was thrilled to receive ur call as i exit the train station
.. yes, unlike any other days when we chat on the phone

then i saw u

thank u for taking time to buy the snacks for me despite ur awfully tight schedule.

it's been hard on u having to juggle between work, study n still having to spend time with me.

i'm sorry i didn't realize our plans to study together last weekend n u ended up bringing me to the malls to pacify my foul temper.

all the best for ur exams, baby!

looking forward to my next off day

i think we're addicted.

addicted to BBQ.

last week we had our first attempt at a BBQ with the portable pit. this week we've had a 2nd session with Sophia n Gage. at Pasir Ris Park this time round. being all seasoned BBQ-ers, the shopping, setting up, grilling, eating, packing took us merely 4hours. challenge that!

with our enthusiasm we've gotten mommy tempted. thus we're having a third BBQ on Saturday for my "bee" day (b-day aka birthday). we wanted to have it at Blk 497 but mommy's special request to NeuNeu had us booking a pit at Pasir Ris instead. ya, she wants beautiful scenery n sea breeze (..i want chunky hunks!)

late breakfasts; grocery shopping; cooking (successful ones, mind u); library; room packing; trip planning; KTV
yep, that about sums up the entire week.

oh did i mention that i finally got to eat the Dover fish-n-chips!
thanx to my dearest friendly-but-not-so-happy neighborhood deliveryman who walked a hundred n one miles to ta-bao the foodie for me..

here's a dejected-looking NeuNeu wondering why he's so suay n has to do deliveries on his rest day.. muahaha..

my weekend

last friday was our 5th

i could tell he was dead tired, but he just wanted to make my day. he kept the surprise in his bag.. again.. maybe he's shy? (..ok, i eat my words. he is NEVER shy.) headed home in the wee hours after spending the last moments of our thursday night at hougang kbox.

scurried to the market the following morning for some last minute supplies n made lunch. the critics passed some noteworthy remarks (unfortunately, my guess is that they'll be forgotten as soon as the maggi comments i hear so often). barely ate n zonked out, leaving mommy n NeuNeu to clear the wreckage.
disclaimer: it was definitely not the food that made me pass out!

had lunch of pork rib n prawn noodles at Beach Road market after the collection of my NRIC replacement.. yes, finally eh. sadly the western food stall that i've always favored was closed for the day n neither myself nor NeuNeu was game enough for the tulang. headed to Suntec by foot after prayers at Waterloo street n forgetting a few games of pool. chanced upon some humongous goldfish at Shaw, well-fed n totally out of proportion. lard-filled, yes i know this word doesn't exist in the dictionary YET.

the one thing that irks me when taking the route towards Suntec from beach road, is that damned overhead bridge. never fails to make me feel..or rather "realize".. that i am grossly under-exercised. i'm sure that fountain of wealth n the chain of merchants n offices in the 5 towers earn them enough riches to build an escalator leading to the bridge.

anyway, we acquired our very own portable BBQ pit from Carrefour. NeuNeu's impromptu craving for barbecued food had us lugging more bags of groceries n supplies from Suntec back to Tampines n finally to our BBQ destination, Changi beach.

was a pity that no-one could make it, coz both mommy n Bro were sick n dad was out of town. so we decided to enjoy the "烂"漫的烤肉会 ourselves.

despite ending up with a throat more sore than before n an exhausting night listening to his murmurs in his sleep, i enjoyed myself totally.

the rest of the weekend was our visit to Hafiz's reception for his newborn.
plus more KTV with Jay.. we just love singing :)
