Changes and Wrap Up

change is constant.
how true.

changes over the last week include:-

1. the change in handset purchase from a HTC TouchCruise / Nokia N810 to LG Viewty (which i'm gonna get in less than half a day's time, if everything goes as planned)

2. the change in perception of getting a PSP
(which i'm gonna get in less than a month's time, i hope)

3. the change in internet/phoneline subscription
from Singnet broadband / Singtel fixed line to Maxonline Express / Digital Voice respectively.

not taking up any freebies (which they schemingly tag to a ultra-long contract).
i'm more keen in the Hubber discounts. it's a heavy load paying all those bills monthly (and to feed my relentless traveling needs).

4. lastly, we've got a change in travel plans...
not visiting Bintan for my post-birthday getaway now.
instead, we're heading to Bangkok with my mom and brother instead.
my 4th or 5th time there and yay, it's time for the annual Bangkok shopping spree!

we'll save Bintan for other occasions for now.
i guess my Pentax won't be put to some much use for Bangkok.

time for bed.
check back for updates (provided there are no changes)!

Chatter

finally had my hair done last Saturday.
some highlights and trimming.

tentatively no pictures coz there are a couple of MONSTROUS zits on my face. and since i have zero PhotoShop skills, i have totally no intention of exhibiting photos of my pimple-clad face on my blog.

it's the hormonal shifts in me (reads: menstruation) causing the poor skin and occasional mood swings.
ok, i 'fess up. it's more habitual than occasional..

anyway, we were on the topic of getting a PSP. since i've dismissed the idea of buying a high-end PDA phone, i've now got allowance in the budget for a PSP or i could do use the money to do something else like.. yes, travel. plenty of places i'm dying to visit. did i tell u i'm so into CHINA!
alright, i think am sure most of u probably have gotten sick hearing that from me :P

back to PSP, i tried out NFS Burnout on a friend's console and it kinda piqued my interest.
i totally dig Need For Speed!
i guess i'll go home and try out the newly installed NFS Pro Street before deciding (which also comes in a version for PSP).

okays, enough chatter.
time to get back to work.
sure hope today'll be a good start for the new week!

LG's Beauty - Viewty

after much comparison and brainstorming.
the reason that made me decide to forgo WiFi and GPS features on
HTC TouchCruise and Nokia N810 (please, it's not N81, okay)...

this cutie below

LG Viewty
no, it isn't Pink, unfortunately (for me at least...).
but it's got a great camera to boot.
better known as the improved descendant to its
predecessor, The Prada Phone - brainchild of LG and Prada (obviously!), the Viewty's boosts:

- 5 Mega Pixel camera certified by Schneider-Kreuznach for clear shots
- Manual Focus & Auto Focus
- Xenon light for shot in low light
- 3.0” Wide LCD Touch screen, 240 x 400 pixel (WQVGA) - Ultra High speed video capture (120fps)
- Divx Playback (up to VGA 30fps)
- H.264, H.263, MPEG4
- TV out

it's a shame that the folks at LG didn't include an upgrade the Bluetooth technology or integrate WiFi or GPS into this cutie.

pity.

Last week...

still in the holiday mood and had been a little lazy to update last week.
well, here goes...

13th Feb
had some fun at home uncovering a book of chocolates and candies we brought back from Taiwan.
puzzled?
find the answer here:
10 Reasons Why Chocolates Are Better Than Sex

14th Feb
met up with mr. hu after finishing up the last bits of some paperwork with the financial consultant at DBS.
took some time to run some checks on my new inheritance from my dad - a Pentax Z-1 film SLR camera. so far, everything seems A-okay and i've gotten my first roll of film but have yet to put it all in action yet.
i really hope to take at least a few shots before i get down to my CCNA exam proper.
(which means, yes, i haven't started studying.)

anyways, we had dinner at Sakae Teppanyaki (Century Square) and caught Juno at Tampines Mall GV afterwards. and here i have, the ending theme as the background music on my blog. oh, i must mention this... we were really pissed throughout the movie.
no, the show was great.
it was the girl who spilled cheese (from her nachos) on us when she struggled to her seat because she was late. tsk.

NeuNeu came by my place to pick me up because i had to rush back to shower and change before meeting him. we went for a short spin before he dropped me at Changi beach, he brought out wine glasses, champagne and a huge stalk of sunflower.

and after a series of "tests", he got me to open up a pretty box that housed a secret present.

=)

we returned home to pick Mommy and Dad to the temple for prayers, and finally reached back at home slightly after midnight.

15th Feb
we were up and out early to buy me a new mattress. the old one was giving me back problems, so Mommy got me a new one from Sea Horse.

just after noon, we drove in to JB to send NeuNeu's car for the scheduled servicing. had our lunch and did our shopping at Jusco / City Square then went home for a mahjong session that ended only in the wee hours.

16th Feb
NeuNeu left around 6.30am for work, while i went out only at about 1pm to meet the rest for a visit to Mrs Soh's house at Simpang Bedok area. a rather small-scale gathering as compared to previous ones, and we were "dismissed" around 3.30pm.

arrived at my aunt's place shortly after, then napped a little before waking up for some food and GAMBLING. had my 3rd Lo-Hei there after dinner. NeuNeu joined us after work and we all headed home in the wee hours, again.

17th Feb
despite the agreement to sleep in late, we were awaken by the chattering of my aunts and cousins at 9 o'clock in the morning. had our breakfasts, some chit-chat and they went back to her place for supposedly MORE gambling, while NeuNeu and i prepared ourselves to go to Ah Po's place.

picked Godma and her kids up, and arrived at Marsiling around 3pm.
MORE food followed by MORE gambling. and we got to see Wilson's girlfriend too!
returned to his place around 10pm coz he's got work the next morning. was dozing off halfway thru Blood Diamond coz i was just so tired out, t
hen we decided to just turn in for the night.

some pix for Sunday...

CNY Pictorial

a quick edit of some of the pictures taken during this year's celebration.

there'll probably be more to come tomorrow when NeuNeu sends his Mom & Godma to my place, and on the weekend when we pop by his Uncle/Grandma's house.

CNY '08

the usual visiting, stuffing ourselves with the goodies, gambling, chit-chatting marks the first four days of the lunar new year.

i can never get enough of it.
more visiting (and gambling) next weekend.
NeuNeu's Godma and Mom will be visiting us next week as well.

we had two Lo Hei's this year - one at NeuNeu's place yesterday and another today at Godma's.
it's my favorite part of the foodie.
sweet and sour sauce topped with peanuts, sesame and crisps.

yum!

my least favorite part of EVERY year is..
coming back to work. boo.

anyways, here's a couple of pix for ur viewing pleasure.

CNY Day 1

conked out early yesterday after dinner...
in fact, i slept by 7pm and woke up only around 8am.

too darn tired from these few days' work.

thankfully, Sindu came by early to cover me so that i can be home on time for reunion dinner.

the first round of visiting started this morning.
NeuNeu came by to 拜年 and fetched me to his place to pick up his family to his 伯伯 & 伯娘's place in AMK. headed out to Woodlands, his 姑媽's place, for dinner after a short stop back at his place. later on, he dropped me off at Woodlands interchange before work.

a (totally useless) sidenote:
i took bus 168 (一路發!)home from Woodlands interchange!
發!
auspicious huh!

more visiting tomorrow after catching CJ7 《長江 7 號》 with my folks at Tampines Mall.
then after the gathering at Minx's place, we'll be off to NeuNeu 舅舅's place and perhaps Godma's place as well. last event should be a visit to Loyang Tua Pek Gong Temple 洛陽大伯公 for prayers.

a busy but fulfilling festive.
that's why i always love CNY - the time for friends and family to get together.

hope everyone of u out there is having a great start for the Rat year too!

Gadgets Excitement

started off to write down a list of my resolutions,
then i digressed to write my "wanted-list",
finally i ended up fantasizing over the pretty gadgets and then laughing at some sexist ones.

puzzled?

CNY Preparation Part I - 林志源 Lim Chee Guan 肉干 Bah-Kwa

Queued for the renowned 林志源 Lim Chee Guan 肉干 bah-kwa at Chinatown this morning after work.
Arrived shortly after 7.30am and guess what?
We queued for 4 hours!!!

Last year wasn't as bad, probably because we went more than a week before CNY.
But we couldn't go that early this year because we were away on the trip. As with last year, we made a trip down about a month before CNY to buy some to "kill" the craving. But it's always on the "actual" trip nearing CNY that we buy more as gifts.

Yeah, everyone says we're crazy :P
Ask anyone in the queue and they'll tell u otherwise.
It's definitely worth the time and effort. Apart from the tastier-than-usual and pricier-than-normal barbecue sliced meat, we really think it's the thought and sincerity.
Though i must admit the queue drives me nuts.

But it's pretty rare that we queue for anything anyway, and this happens only once a year.

One task down.
CNY grocery shopping will be tomorrow morning after work.

Oh well, I guess I'll just leave the dentist and hairstylist appointment after the festive.

Taipei Wrap-Up

FINALLY, after filtering and sorting out, the pictures are up.

as mentioned, i forgot to bring along the camera charger so most pictures are taken using the cellphone camera. thankfully, NeuNeu brought the phone charger along because i forgot that as well.

*grins sheepishly*

don't worry, we'll be back there soon enough with better pictures (in hope that i'll remember the camera charger this time around).
i can't wait.

on a different note altogether. back to reality, back to work.

i'm on OT for these few days, as well as on Chinese New Year Eve.
my meeting with Aly today is ruined, plus i haven't even prepared for CNY yet.

my hair's in a mess with the half-fading highlights and kinked ends, i haven't had time to go for appointment at the dentist to remove my stitches, and i haven't cleaned up my room, although my mom did clear some of the stuff - simply put, she threw my things away when i wasn't around. grrrr.

okays, enough grumbling, i gotta get back to work.
NeuNeu's fetching me from work later and as with every year, we're going to queue for the renowned 肉干 bah-kwa at Chinatown's 林志原 Lim Chee Guan.

CNY goodies are always the best!
