Wonderful Days

we woke up rather late (because we were out till late the night before), hence decided to have our lunch at Jurong West and head over directly to NeuNeu uncle's place for the annual Mother's Day celebration.

the nice food stalls Liz recommended were both closed, so all of us had the Pontian wanton noodles instead.
also, i ordered soya bean milk with almond syrup... much to NeuNeu's surprise as i've never been a fan of soya bean milk.
it turned out pretty good, and there wasn't much of a soy-ish taste. hah.

bumped into Ah Po at the void deck with an old friend, so we hung out there a little for a little chitter-chatter.
the eating lasted around 2 hours and ended just in time for me to leave for work.
NeuNeu sent his mom, grandparents and aunt home before dropping me at office, and back to uncle's house for mahjong.

and here i am back at work.
oh bummer.

anyways, we visited the TP - Terrible Place (Traffic Police) on Saturday morning after NeuNeu knocked off.
after the usual long wait, blah blah blah, we had our late breakfast at Beach Road Market.

then, he drove up to the new Kallang Leisure Park.
being a klutz at directions, it isn't difficult to have these little surprises without blindfolding me because i can look straight into the road sign without realizing where i am anyway!

anyway the initial plan was to just take a look and walk around a little.

but there aren't many shops at all!
and the crowd was pretty scarce for a weekend.

we decided to give the Kallang Bowl and Kallang Ice World a miss, and we didn't see any nice films at the cinema (Film Garde), so we continued to wander up to the 4th storey where we spotted KBox.
so there we had the second KTV session of the week.

headed home for some good rest afterwards, before we had dinner and set of to JB in the evening.
it was already midnight when we finally got past the customs.
obviously no shops were open at that time, so we settled for supper at Taman Sentosa.

and just before we returned, we tried the
Lok-Lok.
i'm too lazy to take pictures these days, so here's a few which i got off the web.

for those who aren't sure what that is..
Lok Lok is a cuisine usually peddled on a van or push-cart.

u get to choose from a variety of traditional skewered fresh food - from the usual fishballs, quail eggs, sausages to the more exotic stuff like clams, animal innards and duck's feet etc.

in short, it's like yong tau hoo-cum-steamboat on wheels..
the printed words on the van also says they cater for parties as well (but i suppose that's only limited to the local territories).

a quick guide to eatting from a Lok-Lok stall
(or van, for that matter):

1. dip ur pick into boiling water
(also, u can get the uncle to grill or deep-fry ur choice)
2. pair it off with the different sauces available - chili, ketchup, satay, plum or sweet sauce
3. gobble it up before while its hot!

the van stops just outside the Taman Sentosa Market and operates till around 12 midnight.
i forgot to ask what time he starts though. oops.
well, do pop by for a few sticks if u happen to be in the area.

my guess is after reading all these talk about food, Nick will chiong there over the weekend with Mervin and Stanley.
herhrr.

alright, that's all for now.
g'nite folks.
